65% ~ 70% Energy Savings
and Payback Times

Sunlight is the world's largest energy source and is endlessly free. The amount
of useful energy measured as kWh delivered to the typical household depends
upon the size and location of the solar collectors. But, unless there is a sufficiently large
hot water cylinder or thermal store for the hot water produced, some of it will go to waste.

Savings of 65% - 70% in the cost of heating water are typical with the unique PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system that requires only daylight with diffuse solar radiation and not just sunlight.

As 60% of all solar energy is collected in diffuse sunlight, this gives the PERFECTHEAT collector panel a considerable advantage over its competitors. In addition to which, the black chrome selective surface has exceptional properties with an absorptivity of 95% and an emissivity of just 12%. Black chrome is the only selective surface that we can look back on with 30 years experience and the only one where we know that the absorptivity increases with age.

The patented design of solar absorber within the PERFECTHEAT collector has a the tube located at the top to provide direct exposure to the sun. The copper fin encapsulates the whole circumference of the copper tube and the relationship between the tube diameter, fin width and thickness of material have been chosen to increase the effective surface area by 20%. Whilst the PERFECTHEAT collector panel has a nominal surface area of 1.3m2 for the collection of direct sunlight and it has a total surface area of 1.57m2 for the collection of diffuse solar radiation.

The unique and innovative feature of the patented PERFECTHEAT solar heat exchanger is the way that it delivers solar heated water directly to the top of the existing hot water cylinder where it stratifies ready for use at useable temperatures.

In marginal or intermittent conditions such as are common in the UK, particularly in autumn, winter and spring the PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system will produce useable hot water in a way that no other system can at present.

Optimal use of solar energy depends upon keeping the boiler switched off for as much of the year as possible.

Our customers frequently report that they switch their conventional water heating system OFF in April and don't switch it back ON again until October - 6 months where the hot water is 100% FREE.

The special PERFECTHEAT turbo boost feature enables you to quickly raise the water temperature if it isnt quite hot enough.

The turbo boost control will provide 3KW of heat from an auxiliary electrical heater within the PERFECTHEAT Heat Exchanger for 15, 30 or 60 minutes and then switch OFF automatically so that you don't have to remember to. It is interlocked to inhibit its use if there is solar gain so that first priority is hot water from the sun.

In addition to these features, the MSR adavanced temperature controller has further features to ensure that you optimise solar energy use. It has a feature that we call waiting for sun. You can set MSR according to your pattern of hot water use (do you shower at night or in the morning?) and MSR will delay the use of the conventional boiler so that solar has every opportunity to heat your water before the conventional system operates.

The mini-digital thermometer

The mini-digital thermometer displays shows you the temperature of the water within the hot water cylinder so that you know how hot it is and can better control your energy consumption under less favourable solar radiation conditions.

If you are prepared to be vigilant to weather forecasts and use the all the energy saving features of the PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system wisely, you could save much more energy than the typical savings of 60% -70%.

Energy Savings and Payback Times

Solar water heating is a simple, efficient, reliable and affordable technology and the case for installing a PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system is becoming ever more compelling.

Customers who have installed a PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system tell us that they can switch their hot water system OFF for more than 6 months of the year and achieve 100% savings on their energy cost.

For the remainder of the year they typically make savings of 30%. The math is simple and water heating cost savings of 65% a year are thus being achieved.

The sooner you invest in a PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system the sooner you will start saving money and, as energy prices continue to rise, you save even more and the payback time becomes even shorter.

If you did your economic calculations last year the payback period might have deterred you from investing in solar water heating.

But, do the same calculations today and the result is a shorter payback period. Do it next year and it will be shorter still. However, in the meanwhile you will have been missing out on that free hot water.

The era of cheap energy has ended and we can be certain that energy costs will continue rising. Now is the ideal time to invest in a PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system that will last way beyond its payback time so that you can have free hot water for many years to come. We provide a 20 year product guarantee ensure that you get at least 20 years of savings.

Take a look at the chart below to see a forecast of what hot water could be costing you based on the modest forecast of a 10% year on year increase in energy costs.

If you spend less than £60/month heating your water, the savings will be less and the payback time longer. If you spend more than £60/month your savings will be greater and the payback time shorter. You will certainly earn more from an investment in your home than you will by putting it into a bank account paying typical interest rates. £5,000 in the bank could produce £125/year (gross) at 2.5%.That’s a lot less than you get from a PERFECTHEAT solar thermal system.
